Overview

The mission of the University of Rochester Department of Physics and Astronomy is to actively engage in meaningful ways to explore, understand and predict the behavior of the physical world around us, including everything from subatomic particles to the large-scale structure and evolution of the universe itself. We are a community in which all are welcomed and respected, and where all can pursue and achieve their highest objectives for themselves, their community, and the world. We value our differences, our environment, and our individual and collective contributions and openly embrace freedom of ideas, inquiry, and expression.
