Video Conference with Stanford Linear Accelerator Laboratory

Facility

The Department has its own video conferencing room, which is used to allow faculty and students to participate in seminars, courses, and group meetings held in coordination with various national laboratories. Our hardware is a room-based system operating over a standard ISDN phone line with a maximum bandwidth of 128 kbps. We are able to both originate and receive video calls using H.221 standard. The conference room is Bausch and Lomb Hall room 207A and can comfortably accommodate ten people. Auxiliary equipment in this facility includes a document camera for sharing printed material with remote participants, whiteboards and simple tablet control of all system functions.

Costs

The video conferencing room is available for use by the general University of Rochester community only. Users of this service will be charged a $25 setup fee which covers technical and clerical assistance in scheduling the room as well as system configuration. Additionally, the user will be charged for whatever phone charges are incurred and a system usage fee of $100 per hour. Telephone charges usually run about $40 per hour, depending on the destination of the call. Minimum conference time is one hour with hourly charges beyond this minimum being rounded to the next quarter hour.
