DIFFICULTY

Electromagnetism is an subject that follows a logical well defined sequence of topics without needing to resort to handwaving arguments. In addition, electromagnetism has many interesting applications to science and daily life. The only difficulty students encounter is understanding and applying the concepts of flux and circulation and I have found that students readily learn and are adept at handling these two new concepts. In P142 you will be introduced to both the integral and differential approaches of Maxwell's equations of electromagnetism. Like most of physics, the key to understanding the P142 material and to develop the necessary skills is to solve many problems.
