SMARTS Charts

Target Plan file: Mamajek_UR_2009B_3_standards.txt

These stars are a grid of MK standard stars of dwarf and subgiant luminosity class. These should help fill in some of the gaps in the SMARTS Spectral Standards Library for the 26/I and 47/I setups. I'll gladly share these spectra with whoever is interested! After some literature searching, these appear to represent the best, accessible class V and IV standards.

The bright ones can probably be observed through light clouds as they are exceedingly bright. The exposure times are just estimates -- please adjust as you see fit, keeping in mind that I'd like high S/N (>100) without saturating, as these will be used as standards.

Note: some of these standard stars are fast moving (GJ_402_M4V, GJ_406_M6V, GJ_411_M2V, GJ_1156_M5V, HD_120467_K6V, GJ_102_M3V), and their positions may not be obvious on these charts (which are decades old). For the very fast ones, I've updated the quoted positions to reflect their positions at epoch 2010.0. If the pointing is good, the telescope should put the star within a few arcsecs of the slit (and the standard should be the brightest star close to the slit). I will try to update these finder charts to a more useful format to reflect the motions of these fast targets.
