Detector Data


Data Info

Data is collected every five minutes, and posted every fifteen. It is posted in tab-delimited text files, which import easiliy into programs such as Microsoft Excel. The data is available here

Data Overview


The following variables are recorded:
Date
Time (at end of interval)
RAW Pressure:
The uncalibrated barometer reading, divided by 10
Pressure: The calibrated pressure in millibars, including a temperature adjustment
Detector Temp(C)
Counts:
The number of muons detected by the big panels
Rate
Sigma:
Uncertainty. Calculated by:
Efficiency Hits: The number of muons detected by the two small paddles
(1,2,3,-): The number of muons detected by the small paddles that also hit panel 3 (but not panel 4)
(1,2,-,4):  Like above, but a hit on panel 4, and a miss on panel 3
(1,2,3,4):  Number of hits that registered on all channel

Pressure Calibration:
These values were determined experimentally by comparing the RAW pressure, and airport pressure over a period of time
Pressure = (RAW + 828.31) + (0.8938 * TEMP - 17.928)

Calculating Efficiency:

Panel 3:  (1,2,3,-) + (1,2,3,4)   /   Efficiency hits
Panel 4:  (1,2,-,4) + (1,2,3,4)   /   Efficiency hits
Both:      (1,2,3,4)  / Efficiency hits
