9/18-11/11/03 Mendon Muon Run

Stage II Data Analysis:

  1. Using your Excel file from the previous analysis activity, graph muon rate vs. pressure from beginning of run until just before the effects of the large solar flare are noticeable (around hour 965).  Include a linear trendline, equation, and r2 value for this graph.
  2. Adjust muon rate to correct for variations in pressure.

To do this, click on a data cell in the column to the right of your last column (probably k index).  Click the Edit Formula (=) button on the top left.  Enter a formula that will do the following:

          = muon rate + (101- pressure)x(rate vs. pressure slope)

The pressure slope is found in the linear trendline equation. See formula tips below for help with this.

  1. Graph pressure-corrected muon rate vs. time interval.
  2. Graph pressure-corrected muon rate and k index vs. time interval.
  3. Graph pressure-corrected muon rate vs. k index.  Include a linear trendline, equation, and r2 value for this graph.
