All pure shearing is at the strain rate 1e-5. All isotropic compression is at the strain rate 1e-6. In all animations the system is starting from a random initial configuration which may have large unphysical particle overlaps. For the pure shearing and compression animations, the initial frames show only a subsection of the system of height y_min < y < y_max, with y_min > 0 and y_max < L_y.
