Lectures:Mon. and Wed. 9:40 - 10:55 in B&L 173

Fri. 9:40 - 10:55 is also a time reserved for this course. I will make use of it on occassion to give make-up lectures, when I have to cancel a regularly scheduled lecture.

Textbook: The following books are available in the bookstore and on reserve in the POA library. They are recommended, but not required.

Classical Electrodynamics, 3rd edition by J.D. Jackson
The Classical Electromagnetic Field by L. Eyges

Also on reserve in the POA Library:

Classical Electricity and Magnetism by W.K.H. Panofsky and M. Phillips

Examinations:

Midterm:Friday, October 25, 9:40 am in B&L 173
Final:Monday, December 16, 12:30 pm in B&L 173

The exams will be closed book, but you are allowed to bring a "cheat sheet". This must be a regular 8.5"x11" ruled piece of paper. You may write only one line of text per line of the page. For the midterm, you may write on one side only. For the final, you may write on both sides. The final exam will cover the entire course, but with an emphasis on material covered since the midterm.

Homework:

Homework must be handed in on time in lecture. Late homework will be penalized at the discretion of the instructors. You are encouraged to discuss homework problems with your classmates, but you must write up your solutions on your own.

Midterm Exam:25%
Final Exam:35%
