Lectures: Mon. and Wed. 11:00 - 12:15 in B&L 269

I would like you also to reserve Fri. 11:00 - 12:15. I may make use of it on occassion if I have to give a make-up lecture when a regularly scheduled lecture is canceled. We will also tentatively use this time period for the Midterm Exam.

Classical Electromagnetism in a Nutshell by A. Garg

Classical Electrodynamics, 3rd edition by J.D. Jackson
Classical Electrodynamics, 2nd edition by J.D. Jackson
The Classical Electromagnetic Field by L. Eyges
Classical Electricity and Magnetism by W.K.H. Panofsky and M. Phillips

Note that the 2nd edition of Jackson uses CGS units throughout, while the 3rd edition uses MKS units in the first half and CGS units in the second half. In the course we will use only CGS units.

Examinations
Midterm:Friday, November 1, 2:00-3:30 pm in BL 375
Final:Saturday, December 21, 7:15 pm in BL 269

The exams will be closed book. The final exam will cover the entire course, but with an emphasis on material covered since the midterm. (Note - no cheat sheets allowed)

Homework: Homework must be handed in on time in lecture. Late homework will be penalized at the discretion of the instructors. You are encouraged to discuss homework problems with your classmates, but you must write up your solutions on your own.
