The Final Exam and its solutions are now posted on the Homework page.
Have a nice summer!
All lecture notes and problem set solutions are now posted.
There is lots of neat stuff on phase transitions we did not have time
to go over. If anyone is interested, you can find the notes from the
course website of Spring 2002: http://www.pas.rochester.edu/~stte/phy418S02/
I'd be happy to discuss these notes with anyone interested.
The Final Exam is Thursday May 5, 4 - 7 pm, in BL 315. It is a
closed book, no notes exam. It will probably consist of
three questions, two from the material since the midterm, and one from
anywhere. But of course, since the course builds upon itself, problems from
the second half depend on your understanding the material of the first half!
In general I will be around in my office next week, except for Wednesday
after 2pm and Thursday 1-3pm. Please feel free to stop by if you have questions - just knock
if the door is closed.
Solutions to Problem Set 8 are now posted on the Homework page.

Course evaluation forms will be passed out in lecture on Tuesday, April 26.
Please come to give your feedback on the course.

The Midterm Exam and Solutions are now posted on the Homework page.
Notes through lecture 17 are posted on the Lecture Notes page.
Solutions to Problem Set 4 are now posted on the Homework page.
Note: There is an error in the posted solution to the last problem. In part 3(e) the solutions say
ni=V/Ni is the density, when really it should be
ni=Ni/V. The result is that the K given at the end of 3(e) is
really 1/K, and this error propagates to the result for K given in 3(f).
Notes through lecture 16 are posted on the Lecture Notes page.
Remember, the Midterm Exam is this Friday, March 18, 9:45-11:45 am, in
BL 407. It is a closed book, no notes, exam that covers everything up to the
start of quantum ensembles.
I regret that I will not be in my office today until around 4:30pm.
Feel free to come by and see me then if you have questions with
the homework. I will also try to check my email before then.
Sorry for the short notice.
Problem Set 4, due Tuesday March 15 in lecture, has been posted on the Homework page. It is a long problem set, but I hope that doing it will help give you practice for the midterm exam on March 18.
Solutions to Problem Set 3 have been posted on the Homework page.
