Deyan obtained a B.S. in Physics from Minnesota State University, Moorhead in 2010 and a Ph.D. in Physics from North Dakota State University in 2019. He joined the HEDP-theory group at the LLE in 2019 as a research associate and in 2022, he was promoted to Research Engineer. Deyan is mainly interested in developing fast and efficient codes for first-principles, density functional theory simulations of matter under extreme conditions. In particular, he is interested in applying modern advanced numerical methods such as finite-element adaptive mesh refinement to accelerate DFT and many-body perturbation theory calculations. He is currently one of the developers on the finite-element mixed stochastic-deterministic DFT code MELIORA.
