One text,
Introduction to Nuclear and Particle Physics
by Ashok Das and Tom Ferbel, is required.
The required text is an excellent introduction to much of the background
material we will cover, and also a good learning resource for a number of
topics we will not cover, including nuclear structure.
Other books of interest have been placed on reserve in the Physics and
Astronomy Library, located on the 3rd floor of B&L. These include:
- Cahn, R. and Goldhaber, G., The experimental foundations of
particle physics
- Griffiths, David J., Introduction to elementary particles
- Kleinknecht, K., Detectors for particle radiation
- Leo, William R., Techniques for nuclear and particle physics
experiments
- Perkins, Donald H., Introduction to high energy physics
- Williams, W.S.C., Nuclear and particle physics
Other material will be available on the course home page,
