Difficulties posed to the teacher by diversity
Tolerance of diversity does not seem to come easily to humans.
- Your prejudices, and those of members of your class, can give rise to expressions of resentment or contempt toward other class members.
- Even if they all get along, your diverse students will have different optimal learning styles and learn given concepts at different rates, that may tempt you and others to express impatience.
Either effect will arouse resentment and shame in students, and when it does, you will have lost them. They will not learn from you, or from your class. Your classroom has a harsh climate for learning.
