Eric Page and I are trying to develop a high precision experiment to measure the gravitational redshift of light.  Our technique makes use of the interplay of the gravitationally-induced frequency shift and dispersion in optical fibers.  Our scheme uses optical soliton fiber storage loops.  So this work is taking us into the realm of optical soliton physics and fiber optics.  We are collaborating with Govind Agrawal and Robert Boyd of the Institute of Optics to see if we can understand and overcome limitations of high precision chromatic dispersion measurements.

Some of our ideas have been published in Physical Review.  See Phys. Rev. D63 (2001) 062003 or you can pull a PDF file from our server.
