Overview
Course Overview and Introduction
Welcome to Electromagnetic Theory I. And since most of you are new first year graduate students, welcome to the University of Rochester, whether you are here physically or virtually!
Please note that, while we will be meeting in-person once a week to disucss the course material, most of the resources for this course will be posted online, and so it is essential that you have access to a computer and internet connection so that you can access the material on this website. You will also need to be able to scan or make a digital photo of your work so that you can submit your homework solutions for the TA to grade.
This course will review the Classical Theory of Electromagnetism. You should already be familiar with most of the concepts we will discuss in this course from your undergraduate studies. If you have not already a taken an undergraduate course in electromagnetism at the level of the textbook by Griffiths, please contact Prof. Teitel.
For the historically minded, here is A Brief History of Electromagnetism.
To access many features of the class website, such as viewing lecture videos, emailing classmates, posting to discussion boards, uploading homework, and viewing your grades, you must first login to the University's Blackboard system using your UR NetID.
