 May 10, 2011

The Final Exam and Solutions are now posted on the Homework page. Your grade on the Final Exam is posted on the Blackboard system. If you wish to pick up your final, just stop by.

You may see your grade for the course by going to the registrar's webpage.

Have a nice summer!

 April 28, 2011

Solutions to Problem Set 6 are now posted on the Homework page.

Notes for all lectures are posted on the Lecture Notes page. There is an additional lecture 29 that I did not present to the class, but which I post for those who might be interested. This lecture explains why fluctuations cause the predictions of the mean field theory for phase transitions to give wrong results for systems with spatial dimension lower than 4.

The FINAL EXAM will take place next week Thursday, May 5, from 8:30 -- 11:30 am in BL 270. The exam will emphasize material since the midterm exam, but may include material from anywhere in the course. However there will NOT be any questions relating to phase transitions. The exam is closed book, closed notes, probably 4 questions.

Please take a few minutes to fill out the online course evaluation form which you can access from the registrar's webpage: http://www.rochester.edu/registrar/ I would greatly appreciate your doing so.

 April 21, 2011

Notes through lecture 27 are now posted on the Lecture Notes page.

Note, lecture next Monday is canceled. I will also not be available on Tuesday next week for my usual office hours. If you need to ask any questions, please email me.

Our last lecture will be next Wednesday, April 27.

The online course evaluation form is now open and will stay available until May 9. I would greatly appreciate it if each of you would take a few minutes to fill out this evaluation. It is an important means by which I, as instructor, and the department more generally, can receive your feedback about the course. You may access the evaluation form by going to the registrar's webpage http://www.rochester.edu/registrar/ and clicking on the Course Evaluations link at the upper right of the page.
