Outreach

"To be surprised, to wonder, is to begin to understand" - José Ortega y Gasset (1883-1955, Spanish philosopher)

One of the great joys (and responsibilities) of being a scientist, is sharing scientific knowledge and ideas with the public. I'm very grateful for the many opportunities I've had to engage the public's imagination as a science educator. In addition to general public outreach, I am highly interested in women-in-science and urban youth educational issues. This undoubtedly stems from my own journey through academia, beginning in innercity Philadelphia. I hope to continue developing educational models throughout my career that serve women and underrepresented minorities in the sciences.
