Winch Launch Training

Prior to taking a winch launch it is recommend that you read the first two references as well as some of the following papers on winch launch technique.

1) Winch-launch training guide written by Bill Daniels of Colorado.

2) Chapter 8, Winch launch, in the FLSC Training Syllabus.

3) A paperback book by Derek Piggott entitled "Ground Launches" that is available from the British Gliding Association.

4) The BGA webpage http://www.gliding.co.uk/bgainfo/safety/safewinchlaunching.htm includes a nice booklet, video clips, and a question plus answer test on safe winch launching. The Safe Winch Launch booklet also can be downloaded as a pdf file.

5) A paper written by the late Dean Carswell entitled "Ground Launching" that he presented at the 2006 SSA Convention.
