PHY 415: Electromagnetic Theory I

Course Instructors

The instructor for this course is Prof. Stephen Teitel. Prof. Teitel has been at the University of Rochester for over 30 years. He is a condensed matter theoriest who uses large scale numerical simulations to study phase transitions in different physical systems. His recent work has been on the flow and jamming of granular materials. Contact: You can contact Prof. Teitel at stte@pas.rochester.edu. Prof. Teitel's office is in BL 455B. Office Hour: Prof. Teitel's office hour is Mondays 10:25-11:40 am in BL 269. You may sign up for a one-on-one time slot during 10:25-10:55, or just drop in from 10:55-11:40. Please feel free to contact Prof. Teitel by email if you would like to arrange a different time to chat. Sign up Sheet for Monday office hour. To access this sign up sheet you must be logged in to the UR Office365 server. Prof. Teitel will be leading the discussion sessions on Wednesdays from 10:25-11:40 am in BL 269.

The Teaching Assistant for this course is Yu-Heng Yu, who is a 2rd year graduate student in the Department working in experimental high energy physics. Yu-Heng will be grading your Problem Set assignments. If you have any questions or complaints about how your Problem Sets have been graded, please contact Yu-Heng first. Office Hour: Yu-Heng is also available for discussions and help with the course. His office hour will be Wednesdays 5:00-6:00pm in BL 361.
