Course Syllabus

The links below take you to the different unit topics of the course. Each unit page contains links to course notes, video lectures, problem sets, discussion forum, and discussion questions for the unit.

Please note that the different units are organized by topic, and are quite variable in the amount of time they require. Go to the Calendar
page to see what unit you should be working on in any given week. Note similarly that the different problem sets may be worth differing numbers of points.

In some of the units you will see notes denoted as Supplemental. Since we only have a finite amount of time in this course, there are many interesting topics we will not be able to explicitly cover. For some of these topics I therefore include some supplemental notes for you to read if interested. There will not be any homework problems or exam problems that deal with the topics in these supplemental notes. There will not be any video lectures corresponding to them. But still I encourage you to read them, and I am happy to answer any questions.
