comment on the solutions: For the infinite pancakes problem, I neglected a factor of 2 when finding the electric field. Since the gaussian surface has both a top and a bottom, it should be 2A instead of A.
For the fancy ring, I didn't write what the potential was at the center: The potential is found by taking the integral of kdq/r. Since r is constant at R, this gives k/R times the integral of dq. The total charge is zero, so the potential must be zero as well.
